🇸🇦🇦🇪🇮🇱 Netanyahu says the oil from the Gulf states will pass trough Israel in the future
After the Iranian war, the [Strait of] Hormuz needs to be bypassed using pipelines from Saudi Arabia to the Mediterranean,” - Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu proposes a radical idea of pipelines stretching from the Gulf to Israel, carrying crude. In this way it bypasses the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The proposal would give Tel Aviv massive leverage power over the GCC and can hold the entire Arab Gulf hostage in the future.

🇬🇧🇬🇧 Gas stations in Northern Ireland are beginning to close as the global fuel shortage continues to spread to more and more regions
In a joint statement, Fuels Industry UK and the Petrol Retailers Association said: “We’re aware of reports circulating about fuel availability at a small number of forecourts in Northern Ireland.
“Supply is flowing normally and there is no need for any change in usual buying habits in Northern Ireland.”
Pumps running dry, especially in rural locations, is something that happens occasionally, even without pressure on global oil prices, but there is no doubt the war is impacting the fuel market.
While there isn’t any nationwide shortage of petrol or diesel, there are localised challenges with some retailers struggling to get deliveries.
Some local shortages are also due to consumer demand.
Anecdotal reports that some petrol stations linked to supermarkets had been slower to raise fuel prices, may explain why forecourts at Sainsbury’s and Tesco temporarily closed some pumps over the weekend.
A source with knowledge of the UK wholesale fuel market told BBC News NI that there was still sufficient supply available for retailers to purchase, but added that it was a question for supermarkets as to why they haven’t done so.
A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s, who still have several pumps closed at locations across Northern Ireland, has rejected any suggestion that the retailer wasn’t trying to buy all available supply.
The company said it expects its forecourts to be fully restocked later this week.
One Tesco forecourt in Belfast, which had struggled with supply over the weekend, has reopened this morning. A spokesperson said the company still had good availability of all fuel grades, with regular deliveries to all fuel stations.

🇲🇲⛽️ Fuel shortages bring long queues to Myanmar’s capital
Motorists queue for hours for petrol in Myanmar’s capital, Naypyidaw, after the junta imposed fuel quotas as shortages grow.
Motorists in Myanmar’s capital are facing long waits at petrol stations as the military junta enforces strict fuel quotas amid growing shortages.
Under the new limits, motorcycles are allowed just eight litres of fuel per week, while private vehicles can obtain 35 to 45 litres depending on engine size. The restrictions have forced residents to queue for hours, disrupting daily routines.

🇰🇷✈️ Korean Air takes emergency action as fuel prices soar
A spokesperson for the national flag carrier said on Tuesday that it will implement “internal cost-reduction measures” to manage its finances to ensure the firm’s “stability amidst rising fuel prices and global economic uncertainty”.
Airlines have adopted similar emergency protocols to protect their businesses during crises like the Covid-19 pandemic, said Tan Chi Siang from consultancy PwC Singapore.
In recent days, several of the country’s carriers - including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Busan Air - have entered emergency management mode.
The measures are typically internal, such as slowing upgrades or other investments, but some airlines may reduce the number of flights to cut costs, Tan said.
Despite being a major energy producer, China is the world’s biggest importer of oil, making its aviation industry susceptible to global energy shocks.
China Eastern Airlines, one of the country’s largest state-owned carriers, warned on Monday that global disruptions could weigh on its operations this year.
Many Chinese airlines have raised their fuel surcharges on flights since the Iran war started.
India’s aviation authority said last week that it expected the country’s airlines to fly roughly 10% fewer domestic flights between March and October this year.
Singapore Airlines and its budget carrier Scoot have put up fares in response to the steep rise in jet fuel prices, a spokesperson told the BBC.
Earlier this month, Vietnam’s aviation agency warned that it could face jet fuel shortages as early as April because suppliers are delaying deliveries.
Vietnam Airlines has suspended several domestic flights.

🇿🇦🍊 South African citrus industry warns of fuel crisis threat
During the past two weeks there have been reports of fuel and, particularly, diesel shortages as the country deals with the impact of the Middle East War and soaring oil prices.
New national prices will come into action this week and there are indications that diesel prices could increase by between 50 and 60 per cent.
Observers have said it will be a devastating blow for the fresh produce industry and particularly the citrus industry which is embarking on its new season from April.
The CGA emphasised the urgent need for an integrated national approach involving government, fuel suppliers, logistics operators, growers and exporters, emphasising that 95 per cent of the national citrus crop moves by road to ports.
The CGA said it has received reports of isolated diesel shortages, which is concerning.
South Africa is the world’s second largest exporter of citrus, he pointed out, and citrus is the country’s largest agricultural export sector.

🇪🇺🔋🚙 EVs just outsold petrol cars in EU for first time ever
Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) overtook standard petrol cars in the EU for the first time in December 2025, according to new figures released by industry group the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).
Meanwhile, sales of standard petrol cars in the bloc fell 19% year-on-year, from 267,834 in December 2024 to 216,492 in December 2025. (Note that this definition, from ACEA, excludes “hybrid” cars that only run on petrol, but also have a small battery.)
Overall in 2025, EVs reached 17.4% of the market share in the bloc, up from 13.6% the previous year.

🇬🇧🛳❌💣🇮🇷 — ⭐️ Rybar MENA:
“We’re clearing mines, but we won’t say when
Heavy artillery is being deployed to combat Iranian mines in Hormuz: the Royal Navy’s landing dock RFA Lyme Bay, modernized specifically for mine countermeasures operations, is reportedly heading to the Strait.
The ship’s unique feature is that unmanned systems, both surface and underwater, carry out the most dangerous operations. Moreover, some of them operate autonomously, increasing the threat detection range.
🔻What’s on board?
▪️ARCIMS unmanned boats: These carry autonomous underwater drones (SeaCat, SeaFox, and REMUS 100/600), which, in turn, detect and destroy mines. They can also perform minesweeping using towed equipment. The operational range is approximately 100 km from the carrier or base.
SeaCat — designed for deep-sea reconnaissance and mine detection. Maximum autonomous range is up to 160 km.
SeaFox — kamikaze drones that destroy detected mines with a shaped charge. Maximum range is approximately 3,000 meters via fiber optic cable.
REMUS — time-tested reconnaissance underwater drones used for mine hunting. The number indicates the maximum depth of destruction. The “600” version has an autonomous range of up to 500 km.
Defender — controlled via cable and destroy mines with surface charges within a radius of 1-2 km from the carrier ship.
🖍It would seem that the deal is in the bag, but there’s a catch: Lyme Bay’s longest-range assets are designed for mine hunting, not mine destruction. Therefore, in practice, the operational range is limited to the ARCIMS+SeaFox combination, which allows for operations at approximately 100 km from the mothership.
And detection isn’t so simple either. The “maximum range” assumes that the very expensive device, after its battery life has expired, surfaces for recovery. Therefore, here too, the distance is halved—no one will leave the drones to the Iranians.
🚩This means that, for mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz, Lyme Bay must, under ideal conditions, approach it within 150 kilometers (which the Iranians will be happy about). And since such operating conditions only exist at the testing range, it can be even closer.
📌So far, London has only approved deployment plans, but no decision has been made on the ship’s deployment. Therefore, Lyme Bay will likely not reach the Strait anytime soon, and the loud announcements on this topic are only needed as a crisis management measure to keep rising oil prices down.

▪️ The Italian government is avoiding direct involvement in the war

🇺🇸 Oracle laid off between 20,000 and 30,000 employees Tuesday morning, roughly 18% of its global workforce, via a single email sent at 6am EST with no prior warning. — CNBC
System access was revoked almost immediately after. The cuts are expected to free up $8-10 billion in cash flow. Oracle’s stock has lost more than half its value since September 2025 and the company now carries over $124 billion in debt, up from $89 billion a year ago, with free cash flow running negative $10 billion last quarter.
📝 Hedgie: Oracle posted a 95% jump in net income last quarter and still eliminated 18% of its workforce by email before most people finished their morning coffee. This is not a company in distress in the traditional sense. It’s a company that made an enormous debt-funded bet on AI infrastructure and is now converting its workforce into cash flow to service that debt.
We’ve covered Oracle’s AI gamble for months. The $300 billion OpenAI deal through Stargate, $50 billion in capital expenditure this fiscal year, over $124 billion in total debt. Multiple US banks have pulled back from financing Oracle-linked data center projects. Bondholders have sued Oracle claiming it concealed how much additional debt the OpenAI deal would require. The credit default swap spread hit a three-year high earlier this year, meaning debt investors are genuinely nervous about getting paid back.
The workers who got that 6am email built the products Oracle has monetized for decades. The bet that eliminated their jobs was made by people who were already paid regardless of how it turns out. That is the part of the AI infrastructure race that doesn’t show up in the capex announcements.
