The US is draining its oil reserves at a rapid pace:
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) dropped -7.12 million barrels last week, the largest weekly drawdown since October 2022.
This marks the 5th consecutive weekly decline, the longest streak since 2023.
Over this period, US oil reserves in the SPR have fallen -17 million barrels, to 398 million, the lowest since April 2025.
This comes as total US oil and fuel exports surpassed 14 million barrels per day for the first time in history, as overseas buyers scramble to replace lost Middle Eastern supply.
Furthermore, commercial crude stocks declined -6.23 million barrels last week, the largest weekly decline since early February.
Gasoline and distillate stocks also fell sharply, by -6.08 million barrels and -4.49 million barrels, respectively, pushing total gasoline supplies to their lowest seasonal level since 2014.
Global demand for US oil has never been higher.

A growing number of Americans can no longer afford their car loans:
A record 42.6% of underwater car buyers turned to an 84-month (7-year) loan to keep monthly payments manageable in Q1 2026.
Being underwater means owing more on a car loan than the car is currently worth, resulting in negative equity.
Rather than paying off the difference, many buyers roll this gap into their next loan, pushing themselves deeper into debt.
This percentage has DOUBLED since 2016 and is on track for its 3rd consecutive annual increase.
Buyers with negative equity financed an average of ~$56,000 for a new car in Q1 2026, ~$12,000 more than the average new vehicle buyer.
As a result, their average monthly payment rose to $932, the highest on record.
In March, car loan default rates jumped to their highest since 2010.
Auto-loan distress is surging.

AI is reshaping the American workplace.
66.3% of US workers earning over $200,000 used AI tools at work over the last 12 months, according to a Fed survey.
This is followed by those earning $100,000-$200,000 and $50,000-$100,000, at 51.6% and 40.2%, respectively.
By comparison, just 15.9% of Americans earning less than $50,000 used AI tools at work over the same period.
Furthermore, college graduates were more than twice as likely to use AI at work as those without a degree, at 58.7% versus 22.9%.
Full-time workers used AI at nearly 2 times the rate of part-time workers, at 42.7% versus 24.7%.
Among workers who do use AI, 68.0% said it makes their job easier, and 56.7% claimed it boosts their productivity.
